Love Week

Our community is important to us

LOVE WEEK 2020

Love Week 2020 looked a little different due to COVID-19 but Bethany Church was still eager to show God’s love in our communities. Volunteers were encouraged to sign up for as many of the serving projects as they wished. Groups met at different locations during the week.

FREE CAR WASH

A favorite Bethany tradition is to offer free car washes to the community. Those driving by the building were able to receive a 100% free car wash as a demonstration of the “free gift of love from God.” Tips were offered but never accepted. Together we washed over 30 cars!

CARE PACKAGES

Life Groups partnered together in purchasing and assembling items to go into care packages for two local nursing units. Volunteering opportunities included donating items, assembling the packages, and making cards. Nurses at the University of Maryland Laurel Medical Center and Patient First in Columbia received the care packages.

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN UP

One of our Life Groups showed God's love to strangers by cleaning up a local neighborhood. After cleaning up the neighborhood, the team went and picked up trash at a middle and high school.

FIRST FRUITS FARM

This year our middle and high school students kicked off Love Week! Bethany students and parents served at First Fruit Farms, a ministry non-profit farm in Freeland, Maryland, where volunteers help harvest food for the hungry. Our students and families enjoyed it so much that they have planned to go back and serve throughout the year.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

One of our Life Groups partnered with a local organization, Building Families for Children, to donate gift cards and money for school supplies to be purchased. BFC is a Christian nonprofit with a mission to “share the love of Christ by helping Maryland’s most vulnerable children thrive in families.” Volunteers also made cards to give to the families.
